There is a constant chill in the air, our house smells of pine needles and there is a carton of eggnog in the fridge. ‘Tis the season for green, red and sparkly things to grace our home décor. The Christmas CD’s will sit next to the tuner for the next few weeks and rotate between traditional and modern, depending on our mood. Our tree is up and decorated to the brim! When choosing a Christmas tree, we opt for the real, live thing and go into the woods (or tree farm, as the case may be) and bring it home, still reeking of sappy pine. We have made it a tradition to plant a tree in it’s place. (For not much more than pocket change, you can donate to an organization that will plant 10!)
Thanks to a crafty mom-in-law, who made it a tradition to give hand-decorated ornaments to her boys every year, we have enough ornaments to decorate 2 trees…yet we choose to put them all on one and string colorful lights on it. The girls are singing carols in English and Spanish and are asking for Christmas crafts almost every afternoon. Throughout the day, we are constantly reminded of this joyous season and I can already tell that it is going to be one to remember. Happy merry making to you and yours!
