We’ve been the toast of our neighborhood recently with this bubble wand. Honestly, kids and neighbors, dog walkers and drivers stop and smile, point and almost always ask,
WHERE did you get that wonderful bubble maker?”
And with a proud smile, my four-year-old replies,
We made it.”
I can’t remember where I first saw the idea, but it was pretty easy to make from memory — especially since I had most of the supplies laying around the house…

However, I also needed two 3-foot wooden dowels…which I didn’t have laying around. BUT! I did have a broken drying rack (which I’ve been keeping, DETERMINED to repurpose at some point):

So, with the help of a Swiss Army knife (to remove the blue, plastic casings) we soon had more than enough dowels. {If you don’t have a broken drying rack, you can just buy the dowels at any hardware store.}

To get started, just cover 8-inches of each dowel with glue, then wrap with yarn.

Then, cut a piece of yarn 3 feet long and tie one end to the end of each dowel. Next, cut a piece of yarn 4 feet long and tie in the same way (below the other piece). You’ll end up with this…

We made our bubble solution from ~1/2 gallon of water and ~1/3 cup of dish soap (Seventh Generation). I’ve heard that adding a few TBS of glycerin helps, though, I certainly can’t complain about our results!

Something tells me it’s going to be a bubble-filled summer. <smile>
